Default Won't Dispense Water
Model Number: 50502990   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 5 - 10 years

My Kenmore Elite refrigerator won't dispense water but the icemaker is working. I assume that means that either the switch in the door is bad or that the water inlet valve is bad. I assume from reading other posts that the quickest way to find which is bad is to see if voltage is getting to the valve. Correct?

How do I get to the valve? Is it exposed or do I need to remove a cover or other parts to get to it? Looking at the back, where will it be? How do I recognize it? Will there be a connector I can disconnect to check for voltage? What am I looking for: Ac or DC? What voltage?

Can you tell me the correct part numbers for the valve and the switch? The model number, 50502990 doesn't look like a typical Sears part number.
thanks,
SteveC
