Question washer stopped after 'wigwag' alarm, now won't run
Model Number: 110.82172810   Brand: Kenmore   Age: More than 10 years

Allegedly 'heavy-duty' washer had been having 'wigwag' issues on 'heavier' loads [like any towels at all in mix]. Is level. Would start after redistributing the load. Today it 'wigwagged', then wouldn't restart even after heavy items removed. Now it just makes a low buzzing sound, like the wigwag alarm only much softer-- like a solenoid is making contact but no follow-through from the motor or tranny.
Is this a basket drive/brake issue, snubber problem, or something easier/less expensive to diagnose/repair?
P.S. have already bypassed lid switch, since that was a previously-failed part.
