GE Hotpoint Oven pilot trouble.
Model Number: RGB508PEA4WH Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
Hi,
I just moved into a home with a GE Hotpoint gas oven/range. Shortly after I moved in, the oven stopped working. I remember seeing a pilot flame underneath the oven floor, towards the back and slightly on the left hand side. I opened the broiler, and the flame went out. The oven has an electric heating element on the side of the gas bar, under the oven floor. The heating element still works. If I turn the oven on, and hold the dial in for a few seconds, the heating element will heat, and the gas bar will ignite. However, there appears to be no heat regulation, and the entire flame is much less intense than what is was before. If I then turn off the oven, the flame stay ingited for a few seconds, then extinguishes. I saw a diagram that showed how to light the pilot light (on a seemingly similar model), but I can't get it lit.
Any help would be appreciated.
