You don't need to take apart the front assy, but you do need to remove the boot from the front door section to do this. When you have the front boot off, you will need 8 hand to reinstall the spring
When the front boot is ordered, it comes with rubber wedges. These wedges are used to hold the spring while you work it around. You'll see what I'm talking about when you start putting the spring back on.
