Hi bill67

Besides the thermal cut off there is a thermal fuse in your dryer which most likely has been blown. It's located on the air duct behind the back panel

Check the thermal fuse for continuity and if it's open, replace it. The manufacturer recommends to replace the cycling thermostat too if the thermal fuse blown. It's located next to the thermal fuse.

Also, I would recommend to check the vent, the vent hose and the blower inside the dryer for any clog. Any air flow restrictions could cause the dryer to overheat and blow the thermal fuse.

- The part number for the thermal fuse AP3132867

- The part number for the cycling thermostat AP3131939

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LER5636JQ0

Good luck.
Gene.
