If you have the old style coil relay, they rarely fail! If compressor struggles to start, you have a partially shorted start winding.
If the nameplate current rating is high, like 3-4 amps, try a 3n1 hard start kit,
RCO410 without run capacitor, URCO41 with run capacitor. Run capacitor is mounted near the compressor.
