This washer has a control board model#AP3855067 it does not have a control timer like the old style washer that you are thinking of so any more suggestions? The motor in the spin cycle is pulling about 8.5 amps. The motor in the wash cycle is pulling 9.0 amps this is well with in the the limits for the limits on the motor tag. I'm thinking that I have a bad control board?
The motor coupling to the gearbox is in good condition. The bad thing about this hole problem is that the washer runs fine with no colths in it(all the way thourgh the cycle steps). The motor pulls the same amount of amps with no cloths or with.
