Sounds like the mag tube to me, the thing is if you have been hearing a loud buzzing noise and burning smell, the waveguide may be burned, to which there is no repair for, and you would either throw it away, or get ge to pro-rate the cost of a new one, but they may make you have a tech come to verify that it is indeed non-repairable.
