Can you describe the humming? Might be a few things. For example, no water's entering the dishwasher tub and the pump is working on empty; maybe a foreign object got inside the pump (piece of glass for example); or maybe one of the two impellers broke.
Post the dishwasher model number (open the door and look at the tag) and provide more details if possible.
