Jacking up the freezer temp probably
wont do the trick. You will need a heat source
(you can use a hair blow dryer) to melt the ice
in the tube to clear it up.

Ok now as to why it got that way.

You mentioned earlier that the water had to be
shut off to the house. Now when they shut the
water off there was probably still water pressure
in the line going to the frig. Since the ice maker
doesn’t have much flow it would take several
cycles (maybe more) to actually clear it. During this time the
water pressure is greatly reduced. Low water
pressure can cause the sort of problem you are
having.

So currently the thing to do here is to clear
all of the ice from the supply tube, then
make sure you have good water pressure
going to the frig. There’s a good chance
this is all you will need to do to put things
back in order.
