Mako,

Something is wrong. The resistance must be much more then 7.5 Ohms.

As you said the sensor is new and there is nothing wrong with wires.

THERE IS NOTHING ELSE.

How did you check the sensor resistance?

Did you read this article :How to check continuity with Ohmmeter?
