How do I remove manifold trap from tub?
Model Number: 11074690600 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
I'm refurbishing the tub on this 30-year old machine, and there's some rust around the gasket holding the manifold trap (tub drain). I want to remove the trap so I can refinish this opening.
My Kenmore belt drives repair manual shows a trap, and a replacement tub without it, but doesn't mention how to attach or detach the trap assembly from the tub. Anyone know how, without damaging the trap?
Although functionally the same as the manifold trap shown in my manual, it differs from the manual's picture. Mine is a white plastic tube inside a formed black rubber part. The black rubber includes the outlet hose connection, and the whole assembly is held in place by either a rubber gasket or the top of the rubbery part, I'm not sure.)
I suppose I could remove the trap by deforming the gasket section with a big screwdriver, but that would probably damage it and I don't have a replacement. I've removed the outlet hose, and the trap turns 360 degrees but doesn't seem to be screwed or slotted in.
