Default Broiler element- feed wires lost insulation
Brand: Tappan   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hi,
THis is my first posting.
I just ordered a replacement top broiler element for our old Tappan oven. The old one had a burned out section where the element was bent forward in the oven.
When I unscrewed the plate that holds the element to the back wall of the oven, I noticed that the wires leading to it,from behind in the fiberglass insulation, were missing some insulation for a few inches. They were dry and brittle.
Is there a way to coat or insulate these wires before replacing the element? Obvioiusly shrink tubing would not work in a hot environment?
THanks,
Dave
