Jenn Air Quits Working
Model Number: JCB2059GES Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a 5 year old Jenn Air refrigerator/freezer that has quit working several times in the past 6 months.
Each time, prior to it stopping, the thing would start making clicking noises followed by a sound of something trying to start up. I am assuming this is the compressor trying to do its thing.
I had it repaired once to the tune of about $400 for parts and labor.
On two occasions I have simply unplugged the unit and let it sit for several hours and then plugged it back in and it works fine for several weeks with no problems.
Some observations I have made:
1) The compressor gets so hot you cannot put your hand on it
2) I have put a wireless thermometer in the refrigerator and see the temps constantly fluctuate from a low of 35 degrees to the upper 50's, constantly cycling up and down.
3) The frost free freezer started frosting up which I assume means the heater that prevents the frost has quit working.
Any ideas of what the problem may be? As previously mentioned, I have had it repaired one time with the replacement of some sort of switch. Looking back on it, that most likely wasn't the cause since I can simply turn the thing off for several hours, plug it back in and ultimately get the same results.
Thanks,
